ABOUT ABOUT

In the soccer community a scarf has been a staple to show support of the team you represent without hesitation. We decided to utilize this scarf to show our support and raise awareness for the human rights movement, originating from within the African American community, which campaigns against violence, police brutality, and systemic racism towards black people.

The proceeds from this scarf will go to The Kennedy King Memorial Initiative a 501(C) 3 nonprofit organization.

The Kennedy King Memorial Initiative builds on the historical events of April 4 1968, to raise awareness, provoke thought and inspire action to eliminate division and injustice.

They have big dreams and concrete plans to transform the Martin Luther King Park campus into a center where people, institutions, and community partners can come together in bold dialogue and purposeful action.

The Kennedy King Memorial Initiative believes we must hold space for the heartache, frustration and sense of helplessness that many feel, and educate ourselves to the circumstances and truths that inspire such emotions. In what has now been memorialized as one of the greatest speeches in American history, Senator Robert Kennedy, speaking within hours of the assasination of Dr. Martin Luther King, displayed an extraordinary courage and strength promoting a response of “love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer.” Fifty-two years later, we continue to summon that courage and strength, bringing all to the table in courageous conversations and bold dialogues, to transform the pain we feel into a grief-inspired activism and ultimately into lasting action.

The Landmark for Peace Memorial, signed into law in 2018 as the Kennedy-King National Commemorative Site, truly depicts the best of what we can be in our efforts to eliminate division and injustice in society---reaching out to one another, across racial lines, across theological traditions, and socioeconomic divides.
